On Monday (September 13, 2021), Airbus announced that Breeze Airways has reached a purchase agreement for 20 additional Airbus A220-300s. The previously undisclosed order brings the airline’s total order book to 80 aircraft, the first of which will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2021. The aircraft’s fresh new paint job was completed at the Airbus facility in Mobile, Alabama, which will deliver approximately one A220-300 per month to Breeze over the next 6.5 years. Breeze plans on placing their first Airbus A220 into passenger revenue service in the second quarter of 2022. The aircraft will deliver on the airline’s business objectives by offering a great travel experience with low fares and flexibility.

Breeze Airways started operations in May 2021 and the A220-300 will be the first brand new aircraft that the airline will operate. The Airbus A220 is the only clean sheet aircraft designed specifically for the 100-150 seat market and combines state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials and Pratt & Whitney’s latest-generation PW1500G GTF engines. The aircraft is the quietest, cleanest and most eco-friendly aircraft in its class, delivering a 50 percent lower noise footprint and a 25 percent reduction in fuel burn compared to previous generation aircraft. Additionally, the A220 provides approximately 50 percent lower NOx emissions compared the industry standard. To date, over 170 Airbus A220s have been delivered to operators in Asia, North America, Europe and Africa.
