On Wednesday (March 20, 2024), Bonza announced the launch of inaugural service between Gold Coast and Darwin, with the first flight touching down at Darwin Airport just after midnight.  Celebrating the new route, Bonza is offering introductory one-way fares on over 5,000 seats from $89 per person.  To qualify for the promotional fares, tickets must be booked between 08:00 AEST on March 20th through 23:59 AEST on March 24th, for travel between March 20th and May 31, 2024 (T&Cs apply).  The Gold Coast-Darwin route will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays/Wednesdays and Fridays/Saturdays, complementing existing routes to/from the NT, including Sunshine Coast-Darwin and Melbourne-Alice Springs service.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Bonza’s CEO, Tim Jordan, said,

“We’re Australia’s only independent, low-cost airline and we’re working hard to bring more choices for Gold Coast and Darwin customers with the introduction of affordable flights between these two iconic locations.  With school holidays on the horizon, we’re looking forward to seeing our customers surfing on the Goldie or relaxing on a sunset cruise along the Timor Sea. We thank the Northern Territory Government for its Territory Aviation Attraction Scheme that will create jobs, boost NT tourism and increase competition in the NT skies, which is a win for all travellers.”

Also commenting on Bonza’s launch of new Gold Coast-Darwin service, the Airport Development Group’s Executive General Manager – Airports, Rob Porter, said,

“Airport Development Group has worked closely with Bonza and the Northern Territory Government to bring more affordable flight options to the Territory.  We are very pleased to see that Territorians have already embraced Bonza and will now have more opportunity to travel to Queensland with Bonza’s flights between Darwin and the Gold Coast officially commencing.”

Queensland Airport Limited’s CEO, Amelia Evans, added,

"The Gold Coast to Darwin route has long been an underserved market, so we are thrilled that Bonza has recognised its potential.  This direct service signifies a new era of convenient connectivity for travellers – eliminating the need for transits and more time to enjoy both regions.”

Bonza is Australia’s new, and only independent low-cost carrier (LCC), enabling Australians to explore more of their own backyard at low prices.  The airline currently operates a fleet of six brand new Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft, serving 36 routes across 21 destinations from three bases.  Bonza’s all-Aussie menu is 100 percent locally sourced and is ordered on-demand via the Fly Bonza App, which is also the only place to book directly with Bonza.
