On Thursday (July 21, 2022), from the 2022 Farnborough International Airshow, Boeing announced that they have finalized an order for 25 737-10 MAX airplanes with Qatar Airways. The aircraft is the largest MAX Family member and will provide Qatar Airways’ short and medium-haul fleet with superior economics, fuel efficiency and sustainability. With a capacity for up to 230 passengers and a range of 3,300 nautical miles, the 737-10 offers greater fuel efficiency and the best per-seat economics of any single-aisle airplane in the industry. The Boeing 737-10 MAX has the capability to cover 99 percent of the world’s single-aisle routes.

In Thursday’s announcment, Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ President and CEO, Stan Deal, said,

“We are honored that Qatar Airways has decided to add Boeing's single-aisle family to its fleet, deepening our relationship with this world-class airline. The 737-10 is ideally suited for Qatar Airways' regional network and will provide the carrier with the most capable, most fuel-efficient airplane in its class.”

Today’s order was originally announced in January 2022 with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at a ceremony in Washington D.C. Qatar Airways also became the global launch customer for the new 777-8 Freighter, with an order for up to 50 airplanes. Currently, the carrier operates over 120 Boeing airplanes including 787 and 777 passenger jets, as well as 777 and 747 freighters.

Multi award-winning Qatar Airways is the national carrier of the State of Qatar and currently serves nearly 150 global destinations from their base in Doha, Qatar. The airline was recently named ‘Airline of the Year’ for the sixth time at the 2021 World Airline Awards managed by Skytrax. Qatar Airways also received awards for the ‘World’s Best Business Class’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Airport Lounge’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Seat’, ‘World’s Best Business Class Onboard Catering’, and ‘Best Airline in the Middle East.’
