The Board of Airline Representatives in Germany (BARIG) has today announced that SriLankan Airlines has become their newest member. BARIG advocates the interest of national and international carriers operating to/from Germany.

On Tuesday (October 29, 2024), The Board of Airline Representatives in Germany (BARIG) welcomed SriLankan Airlines as their newest member. BARIG advocates for national and international airlines operating to and from Germany. SriLankan Airlines, a oneworld member, operates a fleet of 24 Airbus aircraft serving 114 destinations across 62 countries, including three direct weekly flights between Frankfurt and Colombo.
In Tuesday’s announcement, BARIG’s Chairman and Executive Director, Michael Hoppe, said,
“Sri Lanka is a popular tourist destination that welcomes more than 100,000 guests from Germany alone every year. We are looking forward to the exchange and collaboration with this renowned airline.”

Also commenting on the carrier’s new BARIG membership, SriLankan Airlines’ Country Manager for Germany, Sharadha Senevirathne, said,
“BARIG’s collaboration with authorities in the political and economic spheres as well as key players in the German aviation industry, is crucial. We are therefore pleased to be a part of this airline association, particularly since BARIG engages in many topics that are important for the efficient and future-oriented development of the aviation industry.”
Founded in 1951, Frankfurt am Main-based BARIG (Board of Airline Representatives in Germany e.V.) represents over 100 national and international airlines in the scheduled, charter, low cost and air cargo sectors. The association works to improve conditions in the aviation industry in Germany and is the key industry contact for politics, authorities, industry and media.
