On Monday (August 8, 2022), Bamboo Airways announced the launch of service to Cambodia, with the inaugural flight from Hanoi, operating with an Embraer E190, touching down in Siem Reap on Sunday August 7, 2022 at 19:20 in the evening. Siem Reap International Airport resumed international flights in December 2021 after a nearly two year hiatus due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The airport currently serves routes to and from Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Hanoi, as well as two domestic destinations in Cambodia.

In Monday’s announcment, Bamboo Airways’ Deputy Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Thach Pierre Hoang, said,

“This first nonstop Hanoi – Siem Reap flight is Bamboo Airways’ next effort in our journey of expanding international presence. We are more than delighted to offer 5-star oriented services at Siem Reap International Airport and look forward to leveraging this valuable partnership with many more upcoming routes in the future. In addition, we expect our new Vietnam – Cambodia route will fulfill its crucial role as aviation bridge and make a substantial contribution to the development of both countries in all aspects such as tourism, economy, culture, etc.”

Also commenting on the new service, Cambodia Airports’ Chief Commercial Officer, Stephen King, said,

“In this challenging time, it is a breakthrough to welcome a new carrier. We are delighted to welcome Bamboo Airways today. We know passengers will appreciate the extra choice offered by the airline’s new service linking Vietnam’s vibrant capital Hanoi and the wonderful city of Siem Reap. This is a further sign of the rebuilding of tourism after the successful vaccination campaign led by Cambodian authorities and subsequent reopening of the Kingdom’s borders. We look forward to welcoming new routes between our two countries with Bamboo Airways in the coming months.”

Bamboo Airways was established in 2017 as the first private Vietnamese airline dedicated to providing 5-star services with a focus on hospitality, and the goal of connecting high-potential holiday destinations in Vietnam to the world. The carrier operates a wide domestic network across Vietnam, as well as international service to Europe, Asia, Australia and North America.
