Earlier this week, Vietnamese carrier Bamboo Airways announced that they have received regulatory approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) to operate direct service from Hanoi to Prague in the Czech Republic. The airline will offer twice weekly service from March 29, 2020 and will operate the route with a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The new nonstop Hanoi-Prague route will have a flight time of around 11 hours and 20 minutes, a reduction of three or more hours when compared to one-stop connecting flights. Bamboo Airways’ Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is configured to accommodate 294 passengers and has a range of 17,400 kilometers. In preparation for the launch of the new route, the carrier has partnered with the AVIAREPS Group, who will serve as their general agent in the Czech Republic. Bamboo Airways’ Hanoi-Prague route not only connects Vietnam with the Czech Republic but will also be the only direct route from Prague to the ASEAN region.

Bamboo Airways’ first revenue flight took place in January 2019 and the carrier now operates 40 domestic and international routes with a fleet of 28 aircraft. In just over a year, the airline has carried over 3M passengers and had an on-time performance rate of 94.1% in 2019. By the end of 2020, Bamboo Airways will expand their fleet to 50 aircraft, including 12 state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
