On Thursday (November 3, 2022), Avelo Airlines announced the launch of new service to Orlando International Airport (MCO) from Dubuque Regional Airport (DBQ) in Iowa and Dayton International Airport (DAY) in Ohio. Flights between Dubuque and Orlando will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting January 11th, while the Dayton-Orlando route will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays from January 13, 2022. To celebrate the new routes to Orlando, Avelo is offering introductory one-way fares (including taxes and fees) between Dayton and Orlando for $49 and between Dubuque and Orlando from $59. To qualify for the low promotional fares, tickets must be booked by November 10, 2022, for travel completed by April 30, 2023.

In Thursday’s announcement, Avelo Airlines’ Chairman and CEO, Andrew Levy, said,

“Orlando – we’re growing again! We promised growth when we opened our Orlando base, and now we’ve added two more nonstop routes: Dayton and Dubuque. These routes make getting to Orlando more affordable and easier than ever, plus they offer Orlando residents opportunities to visit places not previously served from MCO. We believe Avelo’s combination of everyday low fares, industry-leading reliability and friendly service will inspire people from across the region to enjoy all Avelo has to offer.”

The new routes will be operated with a Boeing 737NG, and expand Avelo’s Orlando network to 10 cities, including Binghamton (New York), Lexington (Kentucky), New Haven (Connecticut), Newport News/Williamsburg (Virginia), Wilmington/South Philadelphia (Delaware), Wilmington (North Carolina) and Kalamazoo and Lansing (Michigan).

Launched on April 28, 2021, Avelo Airlines was founded with the simple purpose of inspiring travel with a ‘Soul of Service’ culture, while saving customers time and money with nonstop flights and everyday low fares. Since launching, the airline has flown more than 1.2 million customers on over 10,000 flights. Avelo currently operates a fleet of 11 single-class Next Generation Boeing 737s, which will be expanded to 14 aircraft by the end of 2022 and to 16 by the end of March 2023. The carrier currently serves 34 popular destinations across the U.S. from their bases at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) and Orlando International Airport (MCO). Avelo will open a new base at Wilmington Philadelphia Regional Airport (ILG) in Delaware in February 2023.
