On Wednesday (December 15, 2021), Austrian Airlines announced the start of their summer season 2022 flying program with around 90 destinations for the Easter break, gradually increasing to nearly 110 destinations by mid-summer, with approximately 1,300 weekly departures. From Easter week through May, the carrier will offer up to 1,030 frequencies to holiday destinations. In continental Europe, Austrian will offer service to 16 warm weather destinations in Spain, Italy, the Canary islands and the Greek islands, with over 50 weekly departures to popular destinations such as Palme de Mallorca, Málaga, Catania and Larnaca. Additionally, guests will enjoy long-haul service to hotspots including Cancún, Mauritius and the Maldives for an ideal beach holiday for Spring 2022.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Austrian Airlines’ Chief Sales Officer, Michael Trestl, said,
“The focus is clearly on tourist destinations. With 110 destinations, 35 of them warm-water destinations in Greece, Spain or Italy, and up to 1,300 weekly flights in peak summer 2022, we will not only significantly expand our flight programme compared to 2021, but also provide an attractive holiday offer for our passengers. Our passengers will benefit from additional customer advantages. On the one hand, a closer integration with the rest of the Austrian Airlines route network, and on the other hand, customers can now also choose between the booking categories Economy and Business Class on these scheduled routes.
For summer 2022, Austrian Airlines will fly to the most beautiful places in Europe several times a day. For example, the carrier will offer several daily flights to Palma de Mallorca, four daily connections to Milan, Stockholm or Amsterdam, twice-daily service to Larnaca, Athens and Tel Aviv, and up to nine weekly flights to Heraklion. Additionally, destinations which were previously part of Austrian’s charter program can now be booked as regular flights for summer 2022. These include popular destinations such as Catania, Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Keflavik and Mykonos.
Austrian Airlines’ guests also have the option of offsetting their travel by contributing to a CO2 neutral flight. Flights can be compensated via national climate projects or a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) contribution. For more information, please visit austrian.compensaid.com.
