On Friday (March 12, 2021), Austrian Airlines announced the launch of their new catering concept ‘Austrian Melangerie’ starting March 18, 2021. The bespoke menu will be available on European flights of up to three hours and will include a high-quality range of Austrian classics, snacks and drinks for purchase, as well as fresh dishes from DO & CO’s ‘Henry for Austrian’ brand. Guests will also be delighted with an exclusive chocolate taler in Austrian design. From Apple strudel to chicken schnitzel, chive bread or Brattljause, accompanied by a Melange, an apple juice “g’sprizt,” or glass of wine, travelers will enjoy a taste of Austria.

The focus of the new offering is quality, regionality and selection, with coffee and tea from Julius Meinl and fresh menu selections from DO & CO’s ‘Henry from Austrian’ brand. Depending on personal needs and taste, guests on all European flights can choose from the new ‘Austrian Melangerie’ range with sweet and salty Austrian snack options such as Mannerschnitten, Mirabell Mozartkugeln, Soletti Salzstangerl or organic almonds from the Lower Austrian company Landgarten.

For flights 50 minutes and over, an extended offer is available with favorites such as apple strudel, a vegetarian farmer’s roll, or an original Sacher cake, as well as hot beverages from Julius Meinl and a range of Austrian beer and wine. Guest traveling on flights 85 minutes or longer will be spoiled with delicious main dishes such as chicken schnitzel with parsley potatoes (pictured above) or an Alpine Poké Bowl with smoked trout. The offer is completed with alcoholic beverages such as gin and schnapps from the Reisebauer master distillery. Snacks are available from €2, drinks from €3, and main courses from €9. Complimentary water is provided to all guests upon request, and as a sweet gift, all customers will receive a chocolate taler from Salzburg Schokolade.
