On Monday (August 26, 2024), ATR celebrated their milestone 1,700th aircraft delivery since the inception of the program.  The latest delivery, an ATR 72-600, was to long standing customer Air Corsica, which has now completed the full transition of their ATR 72-500 fleet to the latest generation turboprop aircraft.  In November 2022, Air Corsica was the first operator to take delivery of an ATR 72-600 equipped with the new Pratt & Whitney PW127XT engine, which offers a 20 percent reduction in maintenance costs, along with a fuel consumption reduction of at least 3.0 percent compared to the PW127M.  With the latest delivery, Air Corsica now operates seven PW127XT-powered ATR 72-600s.

In Monday’s announcement, Air Corsica’s Supervisory Board President, Marie-Hélène Casanova-Servas, said,

“Completing our fleet renewal with the ATR 72-600 is a pivotal moment for Air Corsica, reflecting our commitment to providing the best possible service to our passengers and supporting the economic vitality of our island.  This latest-generation aircraft enhances our operational efficiency and significantly reduces our environmental impact, aligning perfectly with our vision of a more sustainable future for air travel in Corsica.  By investing in this modern fleet, we are ensuring that our island remains well-connected, fostering growth and opportunity for our communities.”

Also commenting on the milestone delivery, ATR’s Chief Executive Officer, Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, added,

“Delivering our 1,700th aircraft to Air Corsica marks a major milestone in our partnership and highlights our joint commitment to setting the standard for regional connectivity.  This achievement also underscores ATR’s resilience, unmatched adequacy for the regional market, and capacity to provide highly-efficient, versatile aircraft that empower airlines to thrive in the dynamic regional aviation sector.”

Air Corsica is the leading airline in Corsica, operating approximately 51 percent of traffic annually to and from the island’s four airports, namely Ajaccio, Bastia, Calvi and Figari.  The airline is the fourth largest company in Corsica, employing over 700 team members.  Since taking flight in 1990, Air Corsica has served around 42 million guests, making it France’s third largest airline.  The carrier currently operates 12 domestic public service routes, 12 non-public domestic routes, and 12 international routes, with a fleet of seven ATR 72-600s, three Airbus A320ceos and three Airbus A320neos.
