Atlas Air has taken delivery of a new Boeing 777 Freighter, which is the fourth of the type to be operated on behalf of MSC Air Cargo under the previously announced ACMI agreement.
On Thursday (January 11, 2024), Atlas Air Worldwide announced that their Atlas Air subsidiary has taken delivery of a new Boeing 777 Freighter. This is the fourth 777F to be operated on behalf of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company's MSC Air Cargo division under the previously announced long-term ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance, insurance) agreement. The first 777F was delivered in November 2022, while the second and third were delivered in July and November 2023, respectively. The newest 777F will complement existing weekly services, including flights between Hong Kong (HKG) and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW).
In Thursday’s announcement, Atlas Air Worldwide’s Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Sustainability, Richard Broekman, said,
“The delivery of this fourth 777 Freighter that we are operating for MSC marks an incredibly exciting milestone of our long-term strategic partnership. We value our partnership and look forward to building upon our relationship with MSC as the company continues to grow its air cargo solution for its customers.”
Also commenting on the latest 777F delivery, MSC Air Cargo’s Vice President, Anders Matikka, added,
“This latest 777 Freighter delivery represents a pivotal moment and significant milestone for our company as it marks the completion of our first set of aircrafts in partnership with Atlas Air. This new and enhanced fleet will empower us to elevate our offering, ensuring enhanced support for our valued clients and a stronger presence in the market.”
The Boeing 777-200 Freighter has a range of 4,970 nautical miles (9,200 km) and a maximum structural payload capacity of 235,900 lbs. (107 tonnes). The longest range and capable freighter is known for high reliability, fuel efficiency, and lower maintenance and operating costs, while also meeting quota count standards for maximum accessibility to noise sensitive airports worldwide.
