As Delta Re-Enters the Market to India on December 22, Guests Can Expect an Elevated Experience

Delta Airlines will re-enter the Indian market on December 22, 2019 with service from New York (JFK) to Mumbai. This is the first time since 2015 that passengers can choose Delta when flying to India.

Delta Air Lines announced on Wednesday, that customers traveling to India on the carrier for the first time since 2015 can expect a totally reimagined customer experience with a new level of products, services and hospitality. Since Delta last flew to India in 2015, the airline has invested billions in their guest experience. Delta re-launches service to India on December 22, 2019 with an inaugural flight from New York-JFK to Mumbai. In today’s announcement, Delta’s Staff Vice President – Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India, Shane Spyak said,


“We’re investing in every customer, wherever they sit on our aircraft, ensuring time flies faster on long-haul routes like our new Mumbai service. Through major investment in onboard comfort, technology, airport innovation and sustainability, we’re offering a Delta experience like never before for customers between India and the U.S., and we’re excited to welcome them on board.”

Delta’s Boeing 777-200LRs have been completely refurbished and now feature all four of the Airline’s branded services including Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin options. Delta One customers have the option of pre-selecting their meal options before flying and new regionally inspired menus have been created, which are rotated seasonally. Delta has also recently rolled out an elevated main cabin experience offering bistro-style dining, mix and match appetizers and entrees and a separate dessert service. The new food offerings are accompanied by a generous selection of complimentary beverages and snacks.

Customers will also enjoy Delta Studios inflight entertainment at every seat, offering hundreds of movies, TV shows music and games. Delta also operated the largest Wi-Fi equipped fleet in the works, keeping customers connected at every stage of their journey. Mobile messaging is complimentary and high-speed Wi-Fi is available for a premium. Customers will also have the peace of mind knowing they can track their bags via Delta’s app, as RFID chips have been embedded in every tag.


Passengers traveling from New York-JFK will enjoy Delta’s $1.4B state-of-the art international gateway at JFK’s Terminal 4, which was expanded to 11 gates in 2015. Over the last decade, Delta has expanded its presence in New York by over 65%, becoming the city’s number one carrier, with more than 200 daily departures to over 80 destinations in 30 countries.
