ANA and EL AL Israel Airlines Announce New Codeshare Partnership

ANA and EL AL have launched a codeshare partnership to increase connectivity between Japan and Israel. Codeshare flights will operate on EL AL’s route between Tel Aviv and Tokyo Narita from spring 2024, and subsequently on select ANA routes, including domestic routes.

On Monday (June 5, 2023), ANA announced the launch of a new codeshare partnership with EL AL Israel Airlines to increase connectivity between Japan and Israel. The partnership will start in spring 2024 with ANA placing their ‘NH’ code on EL AL flights between Tel Aviv (TLV) and Tokyo Narita (NRT) which commenced in March 2023. EL AL will also place their ‘LY’ code on select ANA routes, including Japanese domestic routes. Additionally, the airlines plan on signing a frequent flyer program agreement, offering members premium customer services and reciprocal frequent flyer benefits.


In Monday’s announcement, ANA’s President and CEO, Shinichi Inoue, said,


“ANA is excited to begin this partnership with EL AL, and we hope that it will provide safe and convenient travel with greater opportunities for both business and leisure passengers between Israel and Japan. This partnership will strengthen customer service and connections between our countries and further enhance the relationship that has been growing in all areas for over 70 years.”


Also commenting on the new codeshare partnership, EL AL’s CEO, Dina Ben Tal Ganancia, said,


“With the launch of the EL AL flights between Tel Aviv and Tokyo Narita, we have seen a great deal of interest of travellers between the two countries. The cooperation between EL AL and ANA is an important element in ensuring the success of this route. We look forward to our codeshare and reciprocal frequent flyer agreement which will bring tremendous benefits to our mutual customers and further strengthen the ties between our two countries.”


EL AL Israel Airlines was founded in November 1948 as the national flag carrier of Israel. The airline operated their first scheduled flight in 1949, and in 1950 began service between Tel Aviv and New York. Currently, EL AL, and their leisure subsidiary Sund’or, serve more than 50 international destinations in over 35 countries.


Founded in 1952, ANA has grown to become the largest airline in Japan. The carrier has been a Star Alliance partner since 1999 and currently has joint partnerships with United Airlines, Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines. Established in 2013, ANA HOLDINGS INC. is comprised of 69 companies, including ANA and Peach Aviation, the leading LCC in Japan. The ANA Group has approximately 43,000 employees and operates a fleet of over 200 aircraft. Additionally, the carrier was the launch customer and is the largest operator of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner Family aircraft, and is the only Airbus A380 operator in Japan.
