American Airlines Welcomes Julia Coney and Ellie Krieger to Roster of Award-Winning Culinary Team

As part of their exclusive partnership with the James Beard Foundation, American Airlines has today welcomed Julia Coney and Ellie Krieger to their team of award-winning culinary professionals. Julia and Ellie will now consult on the airline’s wine and dining programs.

On Wednesday (April 6, 2022), American Airlines announced the addition of Julia Coney and Ellie Krieger to their roster of award-winning culinary professionals as part of the airline’s exclusive partnership with the James Beard Foundation. Founded in 2019, the foundation is one of the most powerful voices in the culinary industry. Both Julia and Ellie will now consult on American’s onboard and ground dining programs, ensuring guests enjoy a memorable and delicious experience. Julia Coney will consult on American Airlines’ wine offer, while Ellie Krieger will consult on the design of nourishing menu options as part of the carrier’s onboard well-being program.


In today’s announcment, American Airlines’ Managing Director of Premium Customer Experience Onboard Products, Clarissa Sebastian, said,

Julia Coney is a wine educator, writer and consultant who will collaborate on American’s award-winning wine program. She will help redefine the carrier’s offerings to reflect diverse guest preferences, and to assist in the development of wine education programs for team members. Ms. Coney is a member of the University of California at Davis’ Department of Viticulture and Enology Executive Leadership Board. Additionally, she founded Black Wine Professionals, a resource for the wine industry. Coney received Wine Enthusiast’s 2020 Social Visionary Award and was recognized by the Wine Industry Network as one of Wine’s Most Inspiring People for 2022.


A registered dietician and nutritionist, and two-time James Beard Foundation award-winning cookbook author, Ellie Krieger will help define American’s onboard wellness program, designing nourishing menus that promote a healthy balance between wellness and indulgence.
