On Friday (January 9, 2026), American Airlines announced that begging next month, guests traveling on select flights will be able to enjoy an authentic taste of Texas enroute to New York, as the airline partners with nationally recognized Pecan Lodge restaurant to serve Texas barbecue on board.  Founded in 2010, Pecan Lodge has been honored by the Food Network, the New York Times, Travel + Leisure and more for their traditional Central Texas-style barbecue, which will take to the skies for the first time ever through this partnership with American.

In Friday’s announcement, American Airlines’ SVP – Customer Experience Design and Strategy, Rhonda Crawford, said,

“As we celebrate American’s centennial anniversary in 2026, we’re looking forward to delighting our customers in new ways that honor unique regional tastes, beginning right here in our home state through one of the most beloved barbecue restaurants in Texas.  Our customers deserve nothing but the best, and Pecan Lodge is certainly that.”

Starting in February, guests traveling in First Class on flights from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) can enjoy an authentic Pecan Lodge barbecue platter featuring brisket and smoked sausage, paired with creamy mac and cheese and crisp coleslaw.  In March, American will offer a chopped brisket sandwich with roasted green beans and creamy potato salad.  Both options will of course be served with a side of Pecan Lodge’s famous barbecue sauce, and are only available for pre-order from January 11, 2026.
