On Thursday (August 28, 2025), American Airlines announced plans to build a new Flagship® lounge and expand their Admirals Club® lounge at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT).  This will significantly increase the lounge space for the airline's customers traveling through CLT, and marks the long-awaited arrival of the Flagship® lounge experience at CLT.  Currently, American operates three lounge spaces in CLT, with Admirals Club® lounges in Concourses B and C/D as well as the new grab-and-go Provisions by Admirals Club℠ lounge in Concourse A — a first-of-its-kind lounge concept for American.

In Thursday’s announcement, American Airlines’ Chief Customer Officer, Heather Garboden, said,

“As an airline, we’re committed to meeting the needs of our customers, and we’re excited to continue to invest in our lounges at CLT.  These improvements will introduce a premium experience for our Flagship® customers and provide more space in our Admirals Club® lounges.”

Also commenting on the carrier’s CLT lounge expansion plans, American’s SVP – CLT Operations, Ralph Lopez, said,

“Charlotte is incredibly important to American’s network.  We serve millions of customers as they travel through CLT, and we’re excited to continue to elevate their experience when traveling with us.”

Charlotte Douglas International Airport’s CEO, Haley Gentry, added,

“CLT is delighted by our hub carrier American’s announcement that it will bring its premium Flagship® lounge to Charlotte.  We look forward to the continued partnership to enhance the travel experience for our passengers.”

American’s Flagship® lounges are known for their inviting atmosphere and premium amenities, including a champagne greeting upon arrival and locally inspired menus curated by award-winning chefs.  Earlier this summer, American debuted their highly anticipated Flagship® lounge at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) Terminal A West, marking the carrier’s fifth Flagship® lounge and ninth premium lounge across their global network.

Charlotte is American Airlines’ second-largest hub, connecting customers to over 170 destinations in 27 countries.  American employs 15,500 team members at CLT, and PSA Airlines, one of American’s wholly-owned regional partners, is relocating their headquarters to Charlotte in January 2026.

American Airlines (NASDAQ: AAL) offers thousands of flights daily to over 350 destinations in more than 60 countries.  The airline is a founding member of the oneworld alliance, whose member airlines serve over 900 destinations worldwide.  American Airlines’ mission is To Care for People on Life’s Journey.®
