On Wednesday (April 22, 2026), announced that in partnership with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the launch of TSA PreCheck Touchless ID at all of American’s hub airports, giving eligible AAdvantage members a more streamlined, touchless experience at TSA security checkpoints.  Customers traveling through Charlotte (CLT), Chicago (ORD), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK and LGA), Philadelphia (PHL), Phoenix (PHX) and Washington, D.C. (DCA), can now verify their identity using secure facial-matching technology without presenting a physical ID or boarding pass.  In addition to American’s hubs, the program is available at 60 other U.S. airports where the airline operates.

In Wednesday’s announcement, American Airlines’ Chief Operating Officer, David Seymour, said,

“Expanding TSA PreCheck® Touchless ID across our hub network is an important step in our commitment to creating a more seamless and efficient travel experience.  Our customers value speed, convenience and choice, and this partnership with TSA delivers all three.”

TSA PreCheck Touchless ID uses advanced technology to compare a customer’s live image to photos they previously provided to the U.S. government, such as those in a passport, Global Entry or a visa.  Once the identity is confirmed, customers can move through security more quickly and access an expedited checkpoint lane.  Participation in TSA PreCheck Touchless ID is completely voluntary, and TSA manages all biometric data.  Eligible AAdvantage members who choose to participate can expect a faster, touchless identity verification process, access to an expedited security lane, and a smoother, more predictable checkpoint experience.
