Today, American Airlines announced new service from Austin, Texas to Boston, Massachusetts and San Jose, in the heart of the Silicon Valley, starting April 2020. The year-round service will be operated twice daily (Monday through Friday) and serviced by Boeing 737-800s. Tickets for the new routes will be available for purchase from December 16, 2019. Customers can start booking flights for these special events on December 22, 2019.
The new service will connect the Austin’s tech community with other major tech centers in Boston and San Jose. In Tuesday’s announcement, American Airlines’ Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Distribution, Alison Taylor said,
“Our customers have expressed the desire for more routes between major tech cities, and we’re pleased to respond to their needs by helping them reach these important destinations with ease. These new routes reflect our commitment to partnering with customers seamlessly to support their travel needs.”
The 737-800s that will service the routes have high-speed Wi-Fi and power at every seat and are equipped with 16 First Class seats for the convenience and comfort of commuting business travelers. Additionally, schedules have been designed to allow customers to attend early morning meetings and be home in time for dinner. Austin’s American Airlines Admiral Club has also been recently remodeled and the airline will have five contiguous gates at the airport by year’s end. In today’s announcement, American’s Senior Vice President – Network Strategy, Vasu Raja added,
“We added these routes with our top customers in mind to bring them closer to the places they value the most when conducting business. While it’s not our traditional hub and spoke routing, we understand the importance of travel for the tech community and look forward to offering these new flights to our loyal customers.”
For leisure travelers, American Airlines is also launching service from Austin (AUS) to Los Cabos, Mexico (SJD). Flights will be available on Saturdays and Sundays beginning May 9, 2020.
