American Airlines has named Ganesh Jayaram as the carrier’s new Chief Digital and Information Officer effective September 1st, 2022. Mr. Jayaram joins American from Deere & Company where he served most recently as Chief Information Officer.
On Monday (August 22, 2022), American Airlines announced the appointment of Ganesh Jayaram as the company’s new Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO) effective September 1st, 2022. He will report to American Airlines CEO, Robert Isom. In his new role, Jayaram will provide leadership, vision and direction for the carrier’s technology organization, supporting technical and business strategic objectives. Ganesh Jayaram joins American from Deere & Company, where he led the information technology organization since 2016, including service as the company’s Chief Information Officer. Mr. Jayaram spent over 15 years at Deere and held several senior leadership roles including VP of Information Technology and VP of Corporate Strategy and Business Development.
In Monday’s announcement, American Airlines’ CEO, Robert Isom, said,
“Ganesh has a proven ability to drive innovation in large, complex global organizations that are focused on operational reliability. His leadership style, global expertise and success in building and implementing both business and technology strategy will serve him incredibly well as he steps in to lead our technology team. We look forward to having him join our senior team early next month.”
Prior to joining Deere & Company, Jayaram worked at Danaher Corporation, Canon USA Inc and Boston Consulting Group. He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of technology (BHU), Varanasi and a Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University. In his new role, Jayaram will succeed Maya Liebman who is relocating to the UK for family reasons. Ms. Liebman will assist with the transition through 2022 and will take on new international responsibilities in 2023. Joining American Airlines in 1994, Liebman has served as Chief Information Officer since January 2012.
Commenting on Ms. Liebman’s relocation to the UK, Mr. Isom, added,
“Maya has been a central leader in American’s evolution over the past decade. Her leadership has left an imprint on our entire organization, and we are thankful for all that she has done. She has set us up well for this transition and we look forward to her continued leadership at American.”
