American Airlines has today announced the addition of 500 aviation maintenance jobs and additional heavy maintenance lines at their bases in Charlotte, Pittsburgh and Tulsa. This is in addition to 300 jobs added at their Tulsa Tech Ops maintenance base in 2023.
On Monday (September 9, 2024), American Airlines announced the addition of 500 new aviation maintenance jobs, including over 386 licensed aviation maintenance technicians (AMTs) ,as well as additional heavy check maintenance lines at their bases in Charlotte (North Carolina), Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) and Tulsa (Oklahoma). This builds on over 300 jobs added to American’s Tech Ops – Tulsa maintenance base in 2023.
In Monday’s announcement, American Airlines’ Vice President of Base Maintenance and Facilities, Greg Emerson, said,
“American is excited to grow our talented Technical Operations workforce with more high-paying, skilled aviation maintenance positions. It’s an opportunity to grow our maintenance capacity and capabilities in the near-term and preserve them over the long run by continuing to build our pipeline of future maintenance team members — which is important work American has been doing for some time.”
The incremental maintenance positions are now available on the carrier’s website by location. Charlotte has 133 total openings, including 122 AMTs, while Pittsburgh has 44 openings, including 40 AMTs. In Tulsa, there are a total of 321 new openings, including 227 AMTs.
