On Monday (September 25, 2023), Alaska Airlines announced the launch of new daily nonstop service between San Diego (SAN) and Atlanta (ATL) starting May 16, 2024. This marks Alaska’s 37th direct destination from San Diego to destinations across the Northwest, California, Mexico, Florida and Hawaii, more than any other airline. Flights will depart San Diego in the mid-morning and arrive in Atlanta in the late afternoon, while the return flights will depart Atlanta in the early evening. The schedule has been timed to allow convenient intra-California connections to and from San Diego.

In Monday’s announcement, Alaska Airlines’ Vice President – Revenue Management and Network Planning, Kirsten Amrine, said,

“We want to provide our guests in San Diego the most nonstop options. Not only are San Diego and Atlanta popular destinations for leisure travelers, but both are also major business hubs. We’re excited to connect the cities, especially since Atlanta is our largest unserved transcontinental market from San Diego.”

Also commenting on the new Atlanta service, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority’s President & CEO, Kimberly Becker, said,

“We appreciate Alaska Airlines new options to destinations across the country. This new nonstop service to Atlanta offers Southern Californians direct access to Georgia’s capital and key economic center, while providing easy access for Georgians to the warmth and beauty of San Diego.”
