Alaska Airlines Launches Intra-Alaska Embraer E175 Jet Service

Today (October 19, 2020), Alaska Airlines announced the launch of Embraer E175 jet service within the state of Alaska. Flights will be operated by the airline’s partner Horizon Air and will serve select Alaskan markets. With the reduction in flights earlier this year due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the new E175 jet service will allow the carrier to increase daily frequency between Anchorage and Fairbanks and provide year-round service to both King Salmon and Dillingham. Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air’s Embraer E175s are configured with 12 First Class, 12 Premium and 52 Main Cabin seats, providing the right capacity for communities where larger jets aren’t the best option throughout the year. The aircraft also features Wi-Fi access and ‘Alaska Beyond Entertainment’ which includes hundreds of free movies and TV shows which can be streamed directly to guest devices, as well as power outlets in First Class. In Monday’s announcement, Alaska Airlines’ Regional Vice President, Marilyn Romano, said,

"This has been an especially challenging time for Alaskans both due to the pandemic and the reduction of air service last spring. As part of our commitment to Alaskans and the communities we serve, we are introducing a new aircraft to our in-state 737 fleet. The E175 supports additional flying and keeps Alaskans connected within the state and beyond."

Also commenting on today’s announcement, Horizon Air’s President, Joe Sprague, added,

"The E175 is a perfect aircraft to complement the current flying in Alaska. Our crews are focused on supporting Alaska Airlines and committed to the same outstanding service Alaskans have come to rely on for 88 years."

Alaska Airlines and their regional partners serve over 115 destinations in the United States and North America, providing essential service for their guests and critical cargo shipments.
