On Wednesday (October 11, 2023), Alaska Airlines announced the introduction of Stumptown coffee onboard and in their Portland and JFK lounges. Onboard guests will enjoy the exclusive brew onboard starting this fall, and across all flights by December 1st, 2023. Lounge visitors in Portland and JFK will also be treated to Stumptown’s Holler Mountain brewed coffee, Hair Bender for handcrafted expresso beverages, and Trapper Creek as a decaf option. Since taste buds react differently at 30,000 feet, Alaska flew in experts from Stumptown to craft a custom coffee blend that ensures a well-balanced, complex flavor profile.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Alaska Airlines’ CEO, Ben Minicucci, said,

“Having flown millions of miles fueled by countless cups of coffee, Stumptown stands out as first class. Like travel, coffee has a remarkable way of bringing people together. I can’t wait for our guests and employees to enjoy a cup of Stumptown when they fly with us.”

Also commenting on the coffee collaboration, Stumptown’s President, Laura Szeliga, added,

“We wanted a crowd pleaser—something that would delight folks who enjoy milder coffees and also speak to guests who enjoy medium-bodied roasts.”

Portland, Oregon-based Stumptown led the third wave craft movement in coffee sourcing and roasting in the Pacific Northwest more than two decades ago. The company is committed to the craft and dedicated to top-tier roasting methods, partners and sustainability. Stumptown is a global brand with cafes in Portland, Los Angeles, New York and Kyoto, Japan.

Alaska Airlines and their regional partners serve over 120 destinations in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica and Belize. The sustainability-focused carrier emphasizes Next-Level Care for guests, while offering low fares and award-winning service. Alaska has hubs in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland and Anchorage.
