On Tuesday (October 18, 2022), Air Transat announced the launch of a new codeshare partnership with Porter Airlines. Air Transat has now placed their ‘TS’ code on Porter operated domestic flights to and from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) and Montreal (YUL), as well as between Halifax (YHZ) and Montreal. Travelers will now enjoy seamless connectivity via Montreal across Air Transat’s network, including winter connections to/from Paris, London and Lisbon, as well as domestic and several South destinations. The codeshare will include U.S. transborder connections later this year. Codesharing allows the combination of flights from both carriers on a single ticket, along with baggage check-in to the final destination.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Transat’s Vice President – Network, Revenue Management and Pricing, Michèle Barre, said,

“We are delighted that our codeshare agreement with Porter Airlines is taking off. Our respective networks are highly complementary, with Porter serving Toronto and Halifax, and Air Transat serving some 15 countries. This will provide both our passengers with an expanded, yet seamless experience, and is perfectly in line with Air Transat's strategy initiated earlier this year to develop our network through alliances.”

Also commenting on the new codeshare agreement, Porter Airlines’ Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Kevin Jackson, added,

“We have found an ideal partner in Air Transat to launch Porter's first codeshare agreement. Connecting passengers in two of our most important markets, Toronto and Halifax, with Air Transat's European and North American network is a great benefit. This is just the beginning, as we intend to expand Porter's own network to create many more travel opportunities between our two airlines.”

During the next phase of the bi-lateral codeshare partnership, Porter Airlines will place their ‘PD’ code on select Air Transat operated flights between destinations in Europe, the U.S. and Canada, pending regulatory approvals. Codeshare flights are now available for bookings made via Air Transat, for departures from November 2, 2022.
