On Friday (November 25, 2022), Air Seychelles announced the launch of new seasonal service between Mahe in the Seychelles and Almaty, Kazakhstan, the first-ever route between the two countries. The route will be operated twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays from December 26, 2022 through March 27, 2023 with a two-class Airbus A320neo featuring 12 Business Class and 156 Economy Class seats. In total, 672 seats will be available on the route to and from Kazakhstan weekly. The new seasonal service will also offer onward connections to Mauritius, the Maldives and Johannesburg.

In Friday’s announcement, Air Seychelles’ Chief Commercial Officer, Charles Johnson, said,

“We’re extremely proud to announce our first new destination after the Covid pandemic. With the recent signing of a new bilateral agreement between the two countries, this route will open the door to Kazakhs wanting to explore Seychelles and other islands in the Indian Ocean. It also marks the first time Air Seychelles will be flying to Central Asia, which offers a growing leisure tourism market that will surely love the award winning beaches and rare animals such as giant Aldabra tortoises that Seychelles has to offer.”
