Air Seychelles Celebrates Inaugural Flight From Almaty, Kazakhstan

Air Seychelles has today welcomed their inaugural flight from Almaty, Kazakhstan, with flight HM75 landing at Seychelles International Airport at 08:30 this morning. The flight was greeted with a traditional water cannon salute in the presence of VIPs and the media.

On Wednesday (December 28, 2022), Air Seychelles celebrated the arrival of their inaugural flight from Almaty, Kazakhstan. Flight HM75 arrived at Seychelles International Airport with 137 passengers at 08:30, and was greeted by a traditional water cannon salute in the presence of dignitaries. The welcoming committee included Mr. Anthony Derjacques, Minister for Transport; Air Seychelles Acting CEO, Mr. Sandy Benoiton; the PS for Civil Aviation, Mr. Alan Renaud, and the Director General for Tourism Seychelles, Mr. Paul Lebon. Operated with the carrier’s Airbus A320neo ‘Veuve’, the flight was commanded by Captain Herve Morel and First Officer Dereck Imaduwa. The seasonal route will operate twice weekly until March 27, 2023.


Speaking at the welcome ceremony, Seychelles, Minister for Transport, Mr. Anthony Derjacques, said,


“We are thrilled to see Air Seychelles land its first flight from Kazakhstan, expanding its global reach and connecting Seychelles to the vibrant city of Almaty. Air Seychelles’ ambition is to be profitable and sustainable and to foster tourism growth. Flying to Almaty ticks all these boxes. The Kazakhs have a saying: ‘Native land is a paradise for everybody.’ We couldn’t agree more with this sentiment, applied to Seychelles, and we look forward with delight to welcome travelers from Kazakhstan to showcase our natural beauty and rich culture.”


Also addressing guests at the inaugural celebration, Air Seychelles’ Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sandy Benoiten, added,


“We are delighted to welcome our first guests onboard this first flight out of Almaty, and also for adding Kazakhstan to our network.”
