Air Niugini Shares Sneak Preview of Their New Airbus A220 Livery

Air Niugini has shared a sneak peak of their first Airbus A220’s livery, with the full unveiling to take place next week. The aircraft, affectionately dubbed ‘The People’s Balus’ is fresh out of the paint shop at Airbus’ Mirabel, Canada facility.

On Friday (August 22, 2025), Air Niugini announced that their first Airbus A220 is fresh out of the paint shop at the Airbus facility in Mirabel, Canada. Although the full unveiling will take place next week, the carrier has shared a sneak preview of the aircraft’s spectacular new livery design. Affectionately dubbed ‘The People’s Balus’, the aircraft is adorned in iconic red, black and gold colors that speak to Papua New Guineans. The special livery design also includes Air Niugini’s commemorative 50th anniversary logo.
The Airbus A220 represents a new era for Air Niugini and for Papua New Guinea’s aviation sector. Designed for efficiency, comfort, and performance, the aircraft is well suited for the region, and marks a bold step forward for Air Niugini, reaffirming their commitment to delivering world-class service while celebrating the carrier’s unique identity. Onboard, guests will enjoy comfortable, ergonomically-designed seats with spacious legroom.
