On Wednesday (June 21, 2023), from the Paris Air Show, Boeing announced that Air Lease Corporation (ALC) has signed a purchase agreement for two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. ALC is a longstanding 787 customer, having placed their first 787-9 order in 2010. The lessor’s airplane portfolio includes both the 787-9 and 787-10 models. Since passenger revenue service began in 2011, the 787 Family has enabled the launch of nearly 360 new nonstop routes worldwide, more than 10 times as many new routes as other jets in the same category. In a two-class configuration, the 787-9 can fly 296 passengers up to 7,565 nautical miles (14,010 km).

In Wednesday’s announcement, Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ President and CEO, Stan Deal, said,

“ALC is a key strategic leasing partner to Boeing, and we are delighted that it continues to see the value proposition of the 787 family for its customers. With its unparalleled fuel efficiency, the 787 Dreamliner family is playing a major role in pioneering new routes in the long-haul travel market while reducing fuel use and emissions, allowing airlines to meet their sustainability objectives.”

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner Family delivers a 25 percent reduction in fuel use and CO2 emissions compared to the airplanes they replace. Since entering service, the 787 Family has avoided over 125 billion pounds of carbon emissions. The state-of-the-art airplanes are currently selling at the highest rate in its history, booking more than 250 orders in the past six months alone.

Based in Los Angeles, California, Air Lease Corporation (NYSE: AL) is a leading global aircraft leasing company. The ALC team is principally involved in the purchase of commercial aircraft and leasing them to airlines worldwide with customized leasing and financing solutions.
