Air India has today firmed up an order for 250 Airbus aircraft, including 140 A320neos, 70 A321neos, 34 A350-1000s and six A350-900s. The carrier previously signed a Letter of Intent to acquire these aircraft in February 2023.
On Tuesday (June 20, 2023), from the Paris Air Show, Airbus announced that Air India has finalized an order for 250 Airbus Aircraft, including 140 A320neos, 70 A321neos, 34 A350-1000s and six A350-900s. The carrier has also selected the Integrated Materials Solutions (IMS) from Satair, and Airbus company. With the maintenance solution, Air India will be ensured that any time they need a rotable or consumable part it will be readily available as stocks are replenished automatically.
Air India will also be the launch customer for Airbus’ Skywise Core X3, the latest and most advanced aviation analytics platform. The purchase agreements and Letters of Intent for maintenance and digital services were signed in the presence of N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Air India, Campbell Wilson, Air India’s CEO and Managing Director, Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury, Airbus’ Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, Christian Scherer and Airbus India and South Asia’s President and Managing Director, Rémi Maillard.
At today’s signing ceremony, Air India’s CEO and Managing Director, Campbell Wilson, said,
“Our ambitious fleet renewal and expansion programme will see Air India operate the most advanced and fuel-efficient aircraft across our route network within five years. We are proud to be working with all our partners, including Airbus, in this journey to rebuild a global airline which reflects India taking a more confident posture around the world.”
Airbus’ Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International, Christian Scherer, added,

The landmark Air India order marks the entry into service of the A350 in India, the world’s fastest growing aviation market. Deliveries are expected to start by the end of 2023 when Air India will receive their first new A350-900.
