On Wednesday (June 19, 2024), Air France announced the launch of new service between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Kilimanjaro, as an extension of service to Zanzibar (also in Tanzania). Starting November 18, 2024, the route will operate three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays with an Airbus A350-900 configured with 34 Business Class, 24 Premium Economy and 266 Economy Class seats. The Paris-Zanzibar-Kilimanjaro route will replace the current Paris-Zanzibar-Dar Es Salam route.
Flight AF874 will depart Paris-CDG at 10:10 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays arriving in Zanzibar at 21:10, before departing Zanzibar at 22:55 and arriving in Kilimanjaro at 23:55. The return flight, also AF874, departs Kilimanjaro at 01:25 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and touches down back in Paris at 08:50 (all times local). Flights to Dar Es Salam will remain accessible with KLM via Amsterdam with seven weekly flights. KLM also offers four weekly flights to Kilimanjaro and two weekly flights to Zanzibar. The Dar Es Salam service operates via Kilimanjaro five times weekly, and via Zanzibar two times per week.
Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, and features three main volcanic peaks, namely Mawenzi, Kibo and Shira, offering a wide range of options for hiking enthusiasts. Kilimanjaro National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and serves as the ideal starting point for a safari adventure in Kenya or Tanzania. Visitors to the region will enjoy a pristine natural environment with a wide range of landscapes, and a diverse collection of plant and animal species.
