Air Caraïbes and French Bee announced on Tuesday a gradual return to service of their commercial flights and the re-opening of long-haul passenger traffic. Initial services include flights to Pointe-à-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Cayenne, Saint-Denis and Saint-Martin.
On Tuesday, Dubreuil Group airline subsidiaries Air Caraïbes and French bee announced a progressive relaunch of commercial flights and a reopening of long-haul commercial flights. Initial long-haul flights include service to Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe), Fort-de-France (Martinique), Cayenne (Guyana), Saint-Denis (La Réunion) and Saint-Martin. Service to Saint-Martin connects via Air Caraïbes regional network from Point-à-Pitre. All long-haul flights will be operated with the latest generation Airbus A350-900/1000 aircraft. Commercial flights to these destinations will restart on June 26, 2020 upon the reopening of Paris-Orly Airport. However, the carriers will launch a reduced schedule from Paris-CDG from June 12, 2020. In a joint statement in Tuesday’s announcement from French bee’s Commercial Director, Sophie Hocquez and Air Caraïbes’ Deputy Managing Director, Edmond Richard said,
“All our teams are ready and committed to once again allow our customers to travel to and from the Antilles, Guyana and reunion. We know that the recovery will have to be reasoned and responsible, therefore slow and gradual, but it is essential for Air Caraïbes and French bee to be present in these destinations for both our customers and our staff. The precise program of our respective flights will be communicated soon. We can’t wait to see you again!”
Air Caraïbes is part of the airline division of the Dubreuil Group, a French conglomerate with interests in the automobile, energy, materials, agricultural machinery and hotel industries. The airline was founded in 2020 by Jean-Paul Dubreuil and offers service from Paris-Orly to Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Haiti, Saint-Martin, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and the Bahamas. The company also owns the low-cost carrier French bee, which was founded in 2016. The Dubreuil Group has been in the commercial airline business for over 40 years. They founded the European regional carrier Air Vendée in 1975, which was renamed Regional Airlines in 1991, before being acquired by Air France in 2000.
