Air Canada’s Inaugural Flight to Bangkok Departs Vancouver

Following a celebration at Vancouver International Airport last night (December 1st, 2022), Air Canada’s inaugural flight, AC65, departed and is now enroute to Thailand. The route will be operated four times weekly with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

On Friday (December 2, 2022), Air Canada announced the departure of their inaugural flight from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Bangkok, Thailand. Following a celebration at the airport last night, flight AC65 departed, and is now enroute to Thailand and scheduled to arrive in Bangkok Saturday Morning. The route will be operated four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays through March 2023 with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The return flights will depart Bangkok on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.


In Friday’s announcement, Air Canada’s SVP – Network Planning and Revenue Management, Mark Galardo, said,

“We are thrilled to launch Air Canada's first non-stop service to Southeast Asia and the only non-stop flights between North America and Thailand. Bangkok is also one of the most visited destinations globally, and we have optimized connections to and from our trans-pacific hub at YVR to give customers convenient travel options to explore this exciting city renowned for its history, cuisine and culture, or to conduct international business trade. This new service from YVR is another step in our ambition to develop this hub into one of the most important trans-pacific gateways in North America. We look forward to welcoming our customers onboard.”

Also commenting on the Bangkok route launch, Vancouver Airport Authority’s President & CEO, Tamara Vrooman, added,


“We are thrilled that Air Canada continues to grow its transpacific hub at YVR with the introduction of their new route to Bangkok — the only direct service from North America to Thailand. This new service will provide passengers with incredible tourism options and a broad range of business opportunities in the region. And here in British Columbia this new route will generate $2.8 million in tourism spend and $1.5 million in GDP.”

Eligible customers can enjoy Air Canada’s Signature Suite at YVR, which offers a private, premium preflight experience. Air Canada Chauffeur service is also available for eligible connecting International Air Canada Signature Class guests arriving from within Canada. Customers will be met by a concierge before being transported on the tarmac in a hybrid or electric Porsche to the distinctive Air Canada Signature Suite.


Air Canada has elevated their international Economy Class dining experience, and all customers departing Canada can enjoy a hot entrée created for Air Canada by renowned Montreal Chef, Jérôme Ferrer. Air Canada’s international Signature Class menu features culinary creations by award-winning Vancouver-based Chef David Hawksworth, complemented by an exceptional selection of wines curated by leading Canadian Sommelier, Véronique Rivest. Signature Class guests will also receive bespoke amenity kits, created in partnership with Acqua Di Parma, while International Premium Economy Class customers will receive a reusable amenity tote featuring travel essentials.
