Air Canada Announces Palma de Mallorca as First Airbus A321XLR Route

Air Canada has today announced Palma de Mallorca as their first Airbus A32XLR route starting in summer 2026, followed by service from Montréal to Toulouse and Edinburgh later next year.

On Tuesday (September 9, 2025), Air Canada announced that their first Airbus A321XLR route will be service between Montréal and Palma de Mallorca for summer 2026. Delivery of Air Canada’s new A321XLR fleet will begin during the first quarter of 2026, and the aircraft will also be deployed on routes from Montréal to Toulouse, France and Edinburgh, Scotland in 2026. The A321XLR will be Air Canada’s first single-aisle aircraft featuring lie-flat Business Class seats, and will accommodate 182 guests with 14 Signature Class and 168 Economy Class seats. The delivery of the airline's first A321XLR will also mark the beginning of the next era in Air Canada’s cabin interiors with the introduction of a new design and onboard experience standard. When Air Canada takes delivery of additional A321XLRs, they will add more exciting routes from Toronto, Ottawa and Halifax, amongst other cities.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Air Canada’s EVP and Chief Commercial Officer and President of Air Canada Cargo, Mark Galardo, said,

By leveraging the unique capabilities of the A321XLR, Air Canada becomes the first Canadian airline to offer flights to this Spanish island, renowned for its stunning beaches, history and culture. We look forward to welcoming our customers aboard this exciting new aircraft, which will join our fleet in the coming months.”
