Aeromexico is celebrating nine decades of flying with a new aircraft livery, including a redesign of the iconic ‘Caballero Aguila’ (Eagle Knight) logo. The new brand identity projects warmth, dynamism and modernity, showcasing contemporary Mexico.
On Wednesday (August 28, 2024), Aeromexico announced that as they celebrate their 90th anniversary, they are introducing a new aircraft livery and brand identity. The brand revamp includes an overhaul of the iconic ‘Caballero Aguila’ (Eagle Knight) logo, which dates back to 1959. Initially, the new logo was applied to the fuselage of an Embraer E190, with registration XA-IAC, and will gradually be applied to the carrier’s 150+ strong fleet. Showcasing the image of contemporary Mexico, the new branding projects warmth, dynamism and modernity.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Aeromexico’s CEO, Andres Conesa, said,
“This year marks a huge milestone for all who are part of the Aeromexico Family as we celebrate 90 years of history. On this special anniversary, I am proud to introduce you to the new image that will adorn our fleet, which reflects the internal transformation we have made to consolidate a world-class product, always keeping our customers at the center of everything we do. This anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on all the achievements we have reached, look forward, and give our best to continue elevating the journey towards the extraordinary.”
The redesigned Caballero Aguila shows a more human looking face, conveying closeness and empathy. The upper part of the emblem’s helmet represents an aircraft fuselage, while the lower part includes the plumage of the original version. The new aircraft livery was applied by International Aerospace Costings (IAC) in Amarillo, Texas. The Caballero Aguila became the airline’s official emblem at the end of 1959, when all aircraft were renamed in honor of the Aztec culture. Aeromexico’s official 90th anniversary will be celebrated on September 10, 2024.
