On Monday (August 16, 2021), Aeromexico announced the launch of new seasonal nonstop service between Cancun and São Paulo. The route will operate three times weekly from December 15, 2021 through April 17, 2022 and will be serviced with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Aeromexico has served Brazil for over two decades and the new route will increase capacity between both countries by 43 percent.

In Monday’s announcement, Aeromexico’s Senior Vice President of Global Sales, Giancarlo Mulinelli, said,

“Cancun is one of the top beach destinations in Mexico and one of the most visited by tourists. We are proud to announce a nonstop flight between this destination and Sao Paulo, Brazil offering our customers more and better connectivity options. We are confident that this new service will propel economic and tourism exchange between both countries.”

Also speaking on the new Cancun-São Paulo route, Quintana Roo’s Governor Carlos Joaquin Gonzalez, said,

“For the Mexican Caribbean, this flight represents the increase not only of international air connectivity but also the growth of one of our strategic markets: Brazil. The launch of this route will allow us to shorten the distance with South America, strengthening the tourist reactivation in which we have worked in a gradual and orderly manner.”

Mexico is an important strategic market for Brazil and has shown substantial growth over the last few years, with Cancun a popular holiday destination for Brazilian tourists. The new route is in addition to new service from Guadalajara and Monterrey to Madrid announced last week. Aeromexico currently serves 81 domestic and international routes.
