On Monday (February 26, 2024), Aeromexico announced the launch of new service between Mexico City International Airport (MEX) and Tampa International Airport (TPA) starting July 1st, 2024.  The new route will operate daily with an Embraer E190, complementing the airline’s existing Florida service to Miami (MIA) and Orlando (MCO).  The aircraft is configured with 99 seats, including 11 Clase Premier seats, Aeromexico’s premium cabin.  Inbound customers to Mexico City can also enjoy seamless one-stop connectivity across the carrier’s extensive domestic network.  Tampa will become the carrier’s 23rd U.S. destination, complementing other new cities joining the Aeromexico network in 2024, including Atlanta, Boston, McAllen, Raleigh/Durham and Washington.

In Monday (February 26, 2024), Aeromexico’s Vice President of Sales – U.S., Canada and Latin America, Jose Zapata, said,

“This new service to the Tampa Bay area demonstrates our commitment to offer the best connectivity between Mexico and the United States, hand in hand with our partner Delta Air Lines. As a result, our customers will have more options for leisure and business travel, and Tampa Bay has a lot to offer.”

Also commenting on the new Florida service, Tampa International Airport’s CEO, Joe Lopano, said,

“It’s a big day for TPA when we get to announce both a new airline and a new route that connects Tampa Bay with the largest metropolitan area in North America.  We’re proud to welcome Aeromexico to Tampa International Airport with this service to Mexico City and look forward to helping the strong cultural and business ties between our two regions continue to grow.”

Aeromexico will offer up to 400 monthly arrivals and departures across all three Florida Airports, representing 75,000 monthly seats.  The new Tampa service is made possible by the Aeromexico-Delta Alliance, which is currently experiencing regulatory scrutiny.  Since 2017, the alliance has facilitated the connectivity of over 45 million passengers between Mexico and the U.S.
