Academy Award winning actress Penelope Cruz has become a new brand ambassador for Emirates. She will be featured in the carrier’s latest ad campaign , with TV spots starting to air globally in English and Spanish from June 2023.
On Thursday (May 25, 2023), Emirates announced that Academy Award winning actress Penelope Cruz has become the carrier’s newest brand ambassador, and will collaborate on their newest ad campaign. Starting June 2023, Cruz will star in Emirates’ new TV spots which will broadcast in both English and Spanish. The theme of the new campaign is ‘travel is not just about the end destination; it’s also about how you get there.’ In the short ads, Ms. Cruz is shown sampling all of the exclusive luxuries of Emirates’ First and Business Class offerings,. From a hand-crafted beverage in the A380 Onboard Lounge, to an indulgent inflight shower, cheering on a football game, or enjoying generous helpings of caviar, the ads show what it means to ‘Fly Better.’
In Thursday’s announcement, Emirates’ SVP – Brand and Advertising, Richard Billington, said,
“Emirates is all about Flying Better, where the journey to your destination matters as much as the place itself. We take care of every detail in the Emirates experience and wanted a brand ambassador who reflects the Emirates brand - it needed to be someone classy, stylish, and having modern global appeal. Penelope was the perfect fit.”

Each of the new adverts were directed by Robert Stromberg, a double Oscar-winning Hollywood Director, with 30 nominations and 21 award wins for movies, TV series and commercials throughout his career. Working closely with the Emirates brand team, the TV spots were created to convey the thoughtful luxury of the ‘Fly Better’ experience, while retaining a note of Penelope Cruz’ cheeky sense of humor. The ads were also supported by the esteemed production house Ridley Scott Associates and Framestore, the multi award-winning creative studio for special effects.
