Volotea announced on Wednesday the launch of 40 new domestic routes for summer 2020 in Italy, France, Spain and Greece. The carrier will resume operations on June 16, 2020 with the Airbus shuttle.
Yesterday (May 20, 2020), Volotea announced that they will resume service on June 16, 2020 and will offer 40 new domestic routes for the summer 2020 holiday season. The carrier is launching 15 new routes in France, 15 in Spain, eight in Italy and two in Spain. A total of 15 of the new routes will be exclusive and Volotea will serve four new airports including Beauvais (France), Santiago de Compostela and Granada (Spain) and Bologna (Italy). In Wednesday’s announcement, Volotea’s Founder and CEO, Carlos Muñoz said,
“We are very excited to share the good news of many additional domestic routes launched today. Now that flying protocols are becoming clearer, and the clients will regain the confidence in safe and healthy travel for this summer, we know most of our clients will want to travel more, especially in domestic markets. Therefore, we’ve adapted our network by strongly strengthening all our domestic connections in Spain, France, Italy and Greece.”
Volotea is one of the fastest growing independent airlines in Europe and has carried over 25 million passengers since 2012. In 2020, the carrier is adding six Airbus A319s and 62 new routes, offering 354 short-haul city pairs from 96 small and medium-sized airports in 15 countries. Volotea has a fleet of 39 aircraft including 25 Airbus A319s and 14 Boeing 717s. The airline operates from 16 European bases in Venice, Nantes, Bordeaux, Palermo, Strasbourg, Asturias, Verona, Toulouse, Genoa, Bilbao, Marseille, Athens, Cagliari, Naples and Hamburg. Volotea is opening bases in Lyon and Naples in 2020.
