Starting November 5, 2021, Virgin Australia will offer first-ever direct service between Perth and Launceston. The carrier will offer three weekly flights on the route, transporting up to 4,200 guests each month.
On Thursday (September 9, 2021), Virgin Australia announced the launch of first-ever service between Perth and Launceston starting November 5, 2021. The carrier will offer three weekly fights on the route through January 30, 2022, transporting up to 4,200 passengers per month. To celebrate the launch of the new route, the carrier is offering one-way economy fares until midnight on Friday, September 10th for travel on select dates from November 5th through December 5th, 2021, and from January 10th through January 30, 2022.
In Thursday’s announcement, Virgin Australia Group’s Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, Alistair Hartley, said,
“We’re continually looking at ways to pivot and expand our network schedule where free movement of travellers across borders permit, so we’re incredibly proud that working with Launceston and Perth Airports we’ve been able to launch direct services between the cities in time for the busy Christmas holiday period. More flying means more opportunities for our customers to explore our wonderful country or reconnect with friends and family. It also means more work for our passionate team who can’t wait to return to the skies.
“There’s so much to see and do in both locations. Perth and Peel regions offer fantastic experiences like Cottesloe Beach, the historic town of Fremantle and the opportunity to capture the perfect selfie with a quokka on Rottnest Island. Respectively, travellers from Perth will be able to experience the summer bloom of Launceston’s lavender estates, excellent food and wine and the seaside links of Australia’s premier golf destination, Barnbougle.
“To celebrate our brand-new services going on sale today, we’re giving our customers the chance to book a one-way Economy fare starting from just $149 which includes Velocity Frequent Flyer Points and Status Credits. For added confidence when booking, we’re also waiving applicable change fees and allowing unlimited changes for bookings for travel between now and 28 February 2022, so our customers can book with confidence knowing they can change their booking if they need to.”
Virgin Australia is offering unlimited booking flexibility, allowing guests to change flights or cancel travel for a travel credit without fees until February 28, 2021. Changes must be made prior to the travel date and a fare difference may apply.
