United Airlines has today announced the introduction of new, exclusive mobile app features that include personalized, turn-by-turn directions to connecting gates at U.S. hub airports with estimated walk times, real-time flight status updates, tips for longer layovers and more.

On Wednesday (June 25, 2025), United Airlines announced the addition of new, exclusive features to their mobile app. The app now includes personalized, turn-by-turn directions to connecting gates at U.S. hub airports with estimated walk times, real-time flight status updates, tips for longer layovers, and a heads up if United is able to hold the plane for those with extra-tight connections. These new features are an extension of the carrier’s ‘ConnectionSaver’ back-end technology, and provide guests full visibility into connecting flights. During spring beta testing, over 350,000 United customers the new features, and achieved a 98 percent success rate in making their connections.
In Wednesday’s announcement, United Airlines’ Chief Customer Officer, David Kinzelman, said,
“We know that giving people more information, in a transparent and easy-to-understand way, can help de-stress the connecting flight experience. Our award-winning mobile app is a game-changer during travel, and with these new features, our customers will have even more real-time details about their flight and as a result, have an even better experience flying United.”
If a customer misses a connection, customers will automatically receive personalized re-booking options to either rebook on a confirmed flight, or join the standby list for earlier flights if a seat becomes available. United continues to enhance their mobile app features, and plans on adding more languages, expanded navigation support showing a customer's current location in the airport, and more personalized text message updates, including real-time weather delay information.
