United Airlines to Operate Their Largest Domestic Schedule Since March 2020

United Airlines will offer 3,500 daily domestic flights in December, their largest domestic schedule since March 2020. The schedule will connect the Midwest with warm weather cities like Las Vegas and Orlando, along with nearly 70 daily flights to popular ski destinations.

On Thursday (October 7, 2021), United Airlines announced that in December they will operate their largest domestic schedule since March 2020, representing 91 percent of their December 2019 schedule. The carrier will offer 3,500 daily domestic flights in December and the schedule will focus on connecting the Midwest with warm weather cities such as Las Vegas and Orlando. The schedule will also include nearly 70 daily flights to popular ski destinations, including new service between Orange County and Aspen.


In Thursday’s announcement, United Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning and Scheduling, Ankit Gupta, said,


“We're seeing a lot of pent-up demand in our data and are offering a December schedule that centers on the two things people want most for the holidays: warm sunshine and fresh snow. We know families and friends are eager to reunite this holiday season, which is why we're thrilled to add new flights that will help them connect and celebrate together.”


For December, United will launch new direct flights from Phoenix and Cleveland to Las Vegas and between Indianapolis and Orlando. The carrier will also resume eight popular direct flights from the Midwest to sunny Florida, with service to Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa. United will also offer the most departures from Cleveland since 2014, including direct service to Nassau and Cancun. In total, United will offer up to 195 daily flights to 12 Florida destinations, the most flights to the Sunshine State in the airline’s history. The carrier will also resume direct flights to Fort Myers, Florida from Columbus, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Pittsburgh.


For travelers looking to hit the slopes, United will offer more flights to popular ski destinations than any other carrier, with 66 daily flights to over a dozen U.S. ski destinations. This winter season, United will offer service from their hub airports to Aspen/Snowmass, Mammoth, Bozeman/Big Sky, Eagle/Vail, Kalispell, Gunnison/Crested Butte, Hayden/Steamboat Springs, Jackson Hole, Montrose/Telluride, Reno Tahoe and Sun Valley.
