SWISS to Resume Passenger Service to Shanghai From March 3, 2023

SWISS will resume passenger service between Zurich and Shanghai from March 3, 2023. The route will be operated once weekly with a Boeing 777-300ER or Airbus A340-300, increasing to three weekly frequencies from April 2023.

On Tuesday (February 7, 2023), Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) announced the resumption of passenger service between Zurich and Shanghai from March 3, 2023. The route will operate once weekly with a Boeing 777-300ER or Airbus A340, with frequencies increasing to three weekly flights from April 2023. SWISS previously suspended Shanghai service in April 2022 due to travel restrictions related to the global COVID-19 pandemic, but has since continued to operate cargo-only flights.

In Tuesday’s announcement, SWISS’ Chief Commercial Officer, Tamur Goudarzi Pour, said,

“We’re delighted that we’ll soon be providing our customers with flights between Zurich and Shanghai again. It’s a high priority for us to meet the demand that is now growing again for travel between these two major business centres and beyond. Shanghai remains one of the key points in our network in terms of both inbound and outbound travellers.”

SWISS will also be increasing service to and from Hong Kong from five to six weekly frequencies for summer 2022.
