SWISS Expands Network for Summer 2022 and Adds New Destinations

SWISS will expand their network for summer 2022 with the addition of five new European destinations from Zurich with service to Bologna, Nantes, Sofia, Odessa and Vilnius. From Geneva, the carrier will also launch new service to Brussels.

On Tuesday (December 14, 2021), Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) announced an expansion of their summer 2022 schedule with a total of 119 destinations from Zurich and Geneva, including six new European destinations. Travelers from Zurich will enjoy a choice of 92 destinations, while customers on departure from Geneva can choose from 46. From Zurich, the carrier will add new service to Bologna, Nantes, Sofia, Odessa and Vilnius, while Geneva will see the addition of new service to Brussels. The carrier’s summer 2022 European schedule will focus on leisure destinations and guests visiting friends and relatives. SWISS’ intercontinental network will emphasize service to North America.


In Tuesday’s announcement, SWISS’ Chief Commercial Officer, Tamur Goudarzi Pour, said,


“While the pandemic situation is still tense, we remain confident that we will be able to further substantially expand our range of services for next summer under improved overall parameters. Our aim is to offer our customers a comprehensive and varied choice of SWISS flights. At the same time, the stability and the reliability of our schedules will remain one of our paramount priorities.”


For next summer, SWISS will offer 66 short and 26 long-haul destinations from Zurich, including five new European destinations. From March 2022, the carrier will launch flights to Bologna, Nantes, Sofia and Vilnius, with Odessa service starting in July. The most frequently served cities from Zurich next summer will include Berlin, Hamburg, London Heathrow and Amsterdam, while the largest year-on-year capacity increase will be seen on the Porto, Palermo, Tallinn and Billund routes.


SWISS’ long-haul network for summer 2022 will focus heavily on North America with double-daily flights from Zurich to New York (JFK), Boston and Chicago. The carrier will also resume service to Delhi and Mumbai which had been suspended due to the pandemic. The carrier’s new Beirut service, which was introduced for the winter 2021/22 season will continue for summer, along with two weekly flights to Buenos Aires via São Paulo.


Geneva service will also expand next summer with up to seven weekly flights to New York, as well as flights 45 European destinations, including new service to Brussels. Geneva routes with the highest frequencies will include service to London Heathrow, Athens, Lisbon, Porto and Frankfurt.


SWISS’ summer 2022 timetable runs from March 27th through October 30, 2022, and will be published in two steps. The schedule up to an including May 31, 2022 was published on December 14, 2021 and the remaining schedule from Jene 1st through October 2022 will be published on January 12, 2022.
