The service carries over 17,000 travelers daily and the route takes only 15 minutes. The upgrade process is simple and requires only the purchase of a standard class single or roundtrip ticket. Business First amenities include complimentary periodicals, wider seats with more legroom, a personal table, power outlets and onboard TV. In Monday’s announcement, Heathrow Express’ Director, Les Freer said,

“We are pleased to welcome Star Alliance Gold members on Heathrow Express, and with a complimentary upgrade they can enjoy our fast and frequent service in style.”

Also commenting on the new benefit, Star Alliance’s Director of Loyalty, Renato Ramos added,

“We are grateful to Heathrow Express for providing our most valued flyers this upgrade benefit. It is another example of the local and regional partnerships we continue to explore in order to further enhance the value of Star Alliance Gold Status.”

The program is available to all guests holding Gold status in any of the 20 frequent flyer programs offered by Star Alliance member airlines. More Star Alliance airlines operate through LHR than any other airport, with 25 of 26 members offering 236 daily flights to 48 destinations in 24 countries from the London gateway. The Star Alliance offers over 19,000 daily flights to more than 1,300 airports in 195 countries.
