From June 2023, Spirit Airlines will launch new direct service from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit and Hartford, while increasing frequencies between San Juan and Orlando, Baltimore, Fort Lauderdale and Newark.

On Wednesday (February 15, 2023), Spirit Airlines announced that as they celebrate over 20 years of service to Puerto Rico, they will add five new routes to San Juan, while increasing services on four existing routes. From June 2023, the new routes from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) in San Juan, include direct flights to Atlanta (ATL), Chicago (ORD), Dallas (DFW), Detroit (DTW) and Hartford (BDL). Spirit will also increase frequencies between San Juan and Orlando (MCO) to five daily flights, while offering twice daily service between San Juan and Baltimore (BWI), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), and Newark (EWR).
\In Wednesday’s route announcement, Spirit Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, John Kirby, said,

Spirit has served San Juan, Puerto Rico since 2001, and has since added service to/from Aguadilla (BQN) and Ponce (PSE). By June 2021, the carrier will offer 21 peak daily departures from San Juan, making Spirit the airport’s second-largest carrier by number of seats and available seat miles (ASM). Spirit has grown over 200 percent in Puerto Rico over the last four years.
