Southwest Airlines Publishes Initial Flight Schedules From Chicago O’Hare and Colorado Springs

The airline will initially launch flights between Chicago-O’Hare and five destinations from February 14, 2021, while flights between Colorado Springs to five initial destinations will start on March 11, 2021.

Today (October 28, 2020), Southwest Airlines announced their initial schedules for new service from both Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Colorado Springs Municipal Airport. From February 14, 2021, the carrier will offer service between Chicago-O’Hare (ORD) and Nashville (BNA), Baltimore/Washington (BWI), Denver (DEN), Dallas-Love (DAL) Field and Phoenix (PHX). Starting March 11, 202, Southwest will launch service between Colorado Springs (COS) and Denver (DEN), Las Vegas (LAS), Phoenix (PHX), Dallas-Love Field (DAL) and Chicago-Midway (MDW). The airline’s new service from O’Hare expands their Chicagoland footprint, complementing existing service from Chicago-Midway which started over 35 years ago. Colorado Springs will be Southwest’s fourth destination in Colorado, linking the Pikes Peak region with up to 13 daily nonstop flights. In Wednesday’s announcement, Southwest Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Vice President, Andrew Watterson said,


"Our low fares and friendly policies, like no change fees and bags fly free, mean more today as they give people the peace of mind to book travel beyond 2020. We're growing the reach of Southwest as we add more destinations across the United States while bringing our warm Hospitality and iconic Customer Service to more people than ever before. These additional investments in Chicago and Colorado provide even more convenience for our current Customers while also making it more convenient for new travelers to choose Southwest as we begin service from their preferred airport."


Southwest Airlines continues to grow their footprint across Colorado with new seasonal service to Montrose (Telluride) and Steamboat Springs (Hayden) from December 19, 2020. The carrier will also celebrate their 15th anniversary of service to/from Denver on January 3, 2021, where the company now employs over 4,000 People and offers up to 220 nonstop daily departures.

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) has distinguished itself by offering exemplary customer service and competitive fares that include “frills” such as free checked and carry-on bags. During peak travel seasons, the airline operates more than 4,000 daily departures to 101 airports across the U.S. and 10 additional countries. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, based on the number of originating passengers boarded, Southwest has been the largest U.S. domestic carrier since 2003. In 2019, the airline carried more than 130 million passengers. In 2020, Southwest added service to Hilo, Hawaii and Cozumel, Mexico and is celebrating their 50th year of service.
