Southwest Airlines Launches Service to Hawaii From Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Phoenix

Starting in June, Southwest Airlines is launching new service to the Hawaiian islands from Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Phoenix. The carrier is also adding flights to Hawaii from San Diego, Long Beach, San Jose and Oakland.

On Thursday (May 13, 2021), Southwest Airlines announced the launch of new flights to the Hawaii from Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Phoenix starting in June. Additionally, the carrier is adding Hawaii flights from several California gateways including San Diego, Long Beach, San Jose and Oakland. With the new routes and added frequencies, Southwest customers can now connect to Hawaii from over 40 cities. To celebrate the launch of the new routes, Southwest is offering one-way fares from only $129. To qualify for the low introductory fares, tickets must be booked by 11:59 pm CDT on May 14, 2021.


In Thursday’s announcement, Southwest Airlines’ Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Andrew Watterson, said,


“We're building on an era of affordability that Southwest initiated for Hawaii air travel. These new flights bring Hawaii service closer to more of our Customers who live near airports across the West, and make it possible to choose Southwest to fly between the Aloha State and cities as far east as Nashville, without spending an entire overnight in the air. We believe Southwest offers an economy product to Hawaii, which Customers will find comfortable and seating with ample legroom for all, free onboard entertainment for all, flexible policies for all, and our multi-award winning warmth of Hospitality seamlessly aligns with the Aloha Spirit.”


All Southwest Hawaii Flights will be operated with Boeing 737-800 and MAX aircraft, with most seats featuring a 32-inch pitch, a 17.8-inch width and a two inch recline.
