SAS Wins Prestigious Webby Award for Redesigned Mobile App

SAS has scored a win at the prestigious Webby Awards for their award-winning redesigned mobile app, available on both iOS and Android platforms. The Webby Awards recognize excellence in web design, content, functionality and user experience.

On Tuesday (April 25, 2023), SAS announced that they have received a prestigious Webby Award for their award-winning redesigned SAS app, which is available on both iOS and Android platforms. The Webby Awards are considered the ‘internet’s highest honor’, and recognize excellence in web design, content, functionality, and user experience. SAS’ redesigned app features a sleek and modern design that incorporates several travel-friendly features, making it visually appealing and easy to use for travelers.


In Tuesday’s announcement, SAS’ Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Charlotte Svensson, said,

“I’m extremely proud over this award, which is not just an industry award, but a global recognition. It’s a testament to what we can do, when we go above-and-beyond in focusing on improving the customer experience, and when we interact and develop together with our customers. SAS has always been at the forefront of innovation in the aviation industry, and this award serves as a validation of its dedication to providing exceptional digital solutions for our customers.


Also commenting on the airline’s new Webby Award, SAS’ Head of Prepare & Travel, Digital & IT, Massimo Pascotto, added,


“We’re thrilled to have received this Webby Award, which is a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication. Our goal with the redesigned app is to provide a user-friendly experience that makes travel planning simple and hassle-free. We’re delighted to see that our efforts are being recognized.”

SAS’ redesigned app offers a range of new features, including a simplified booking process, travel recommendations, real-time flight updates, and easy access to boarding processes and travel documents. Additionally, it features improved navigation and a more visually appealing interface which reflects SAS’ new brand identity.


Presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, the Webby Awards honor excellence on the internet. With over 14,000 global entries, the Webby Awards are considered one of the most prestigious honors in the digital world.


SAS is the leading airline in Scandinavia, typically carrying over 30 million passengers annually from its main hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm to destinations in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. The company has targeted a reduction in carbon emissions by 25 percent by 2025, compared to 2005 levels, and hopes to transition to 100% biofuel for domestic flights by 2030.
