SAS is ramping up their summer schedule with 10 additional European routes and additional frequencies to popular Mediterranean destinations including Alicante, Malaga, Mallorca, Split and Sicily.
On Wednesday (March 15, 2023), SAS announced an expansion of their summer 2023 flying program with 10 additional European routes and more frequencies. The carrier has added new service from Stockholm to Florence and Larnaca, as well as from Oslo to Tenerife, Hamburg, Berlin, Prague and Tallinn. SAS will also add new service from Bergen to Palma de Mallorca and Manchester, as well as from Trondheim to Split. Additionally, the airline will increase frequencies to popular Mediterranean destinations such as Alicante, Malaga, Mallorca, Split and Sicily. SAS will also bolster their summer service to Italy with up to seven daily flights from Scandinavia to Milan, and more flights from Copenhagen to Florence and Naples. Domestically in Scandinavia, the carrier will increase frequencies from Oslo to Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim and Ålesund, from Copenhagen to Ålesund, and between Stockholm and Helsinki.
In Wednesday’s announcement, SAS’ EVP – Network and Revenue Management, Erik Westman, said,
“We are delighted to welcome our passengers back and seeing the desire to travel continuing to rise. SAS is increasing capacity this summer, adding more routes and additional flights to popular destinations. We are also glad to return to beautiful Tokyo with three weekly flights in June and to launch our new routes to Newark.”
For summer 2023, SAS will also grow their U.S. network with new service from Gothenburg and Aalborg to New York-Newark (EWR) with an Airbus A321LR. Additionally, In June, SAS will resume service to Tokyo-Haneda (HND) with three weekly flights with an Airbus A350. Prior to that, the airline will offer several flights to Tokyo in April to accommodate the high demand around Easter. This Spring, SAS will also add a third weekly frequency between Copenhagen and Shanghai.
SAS is the leading airline in Scandinavia, typically carrying over 30 million passengers annually from its main hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm to 125 destinations in Europe, the US and Asia (pre-pandemic figures). The company has targeted a reduction in carbon emissions by 25 percent by 2025, compared to 2005 levels, and hopes to transition to 100% biofuel for domestic flights by 2030. SAS also offers ground handling services, technical maintenance and cargo services. The carrier is a founding member of the Star Alliance, which celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2022.
