On Monday (December 12, 2022), SAS announced an increase in frequencies between Copenhagen Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The carrier will operate a second weekly departure on the route on December 16, 2022, with regular twice-weekly flights from January 6, 2023 for the winter season. Service between Copenhagen and Shanghai will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays, with the return flight from Shanghai operating on Thursdays and Sundays. The flight schedule has been conveniently times with late evening departures from Copenhagen and early morning arrivals back in Copenhagen to ensure seamless passenger and cargo connectivity across SAS’ global network.

The route will be operated with an Airbus A350, offering a unique travel experience, while delivering reduced fuel consumption and up to 30 percent lower CO2 emissions compared to previous generation aircraft.

SAS is the leading airline in Scandinavia, normally carrying over 30 million passengers annually from its main hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm to 125 destinations in Europe, the US and Asia (pre-pandemic figures). The company has targeted a reduction in carbon emissions by 25 percent by 2025, compared to 2005 levels, and hopes to transition to 100% biofuel for domestic flights by 2030. SAS also offers ground handling services, technical maintenance and cargo services. The carrier is a founding member of the Star Alliance, which is celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2022.
